    Description

1907 High Relief Double Eagle, MS62
    Wire Rim Variety

1907 $20 High Relief, Wire Rim MS62 PCGS. Demand for High Relief double eagles was high from the moment they were first struck. Bags containing 250 coins each were shipped to sub-treasuries and banks, which distributed the coins to individuals. The limit was set at five coins per person (reminiscent of today's limited release Mint products), but this failed to prevent the new twenty dollar coins from selling out within hours. Mint officials worked longer hours and even Sundays to keep pace with the demand. By the end of December, the Mint had struck approximately 12,000 coins. This mint condition Wire Rim example features radiant honey-gold surfaces and razor-sharp definition over the devices. Marks are surprisingly scant for the grade, and they are generally limited to the outer edges.(Registry values: N4719) (NGC ID# 26F2, PCGS# 9135)

    Weight: 33.44 grams
