    Description

1907 Wire Rim Double Eagle, MS63+
    Bright, Sparkling Surfaces

1907 $20 High Relief, Wire Rim MS63+ NGC. CAC. With a background as a cameo cutter in his teenage years, that should have been sufficient to qualify Augustus Saint-Gaudens to design small-diameter pieces such as coinage. But it was his years at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris and his later years as a sculptor that gave him unquestionable authority to work both in small form as well as reproduce sculptural-quality, three-dimensional designs. The combination of each of these is readily apparent in the final work seen on the High Relief double eagle. This is an exceptional piece with bright yellow-gold surfaces that are devoid of any noticeable or detracting contact marks, this surface quality explaining both the Plus grade and the CAC endorsement.(Registry values: N4719) (NGC ID# 26F2, PCGS# 9135)

    Weight: 33.44 grams
