    Description

Victoria "Proof" One Cent 1876, KM4.2, PF65 BN PCGS, Pr-169a. As with the 1863 and 1865 One Cent pieces in this sale, there are some significant differences in the quality behind the striking of this coin. This was struck at the Heaton Mint, and technically they didn't strike any Proof coins. Heaton Mint certainly struck some of the most beautiful coins of the British Commonwealth as we really first noticed when Paramount sold some of the Heaton Mint holdings at auction in 1975. This coin is a Specimen strike since the most noticeable characteristic lacking of a Proof is the weakness in the strike. However, the surfaces are fully Prooflike and are fully inline with the pieces that came out of the Heaton Mint holdings some 30-odd years ago. This is a coin die axis.
