British India. George V gold Sovereign 1918-I MS64 NGC, Bombay mint, KM-A525, S-3998. Gleaming butterscotch surfaces offer bold devices, a richly tones specimen just on the cusp of Gem.

In 1917 the British Royal Mint established a fifth branch, located at the Bombay Mint, as a war time measure with the purpose of striking Sovereigns. Bombay Sovereigns with the "I" mint mark were struck from August 1918 to April 1919; the mint branch closed in May of 1919.
