    Description

British India. Victoria 1/2 Rupee 1840-(b&c) MS65 NGC, Bombay or Calcutta mint, KM456.1, S&W-3.46. Type A Bust, Type I Reverse. Simply incredible quality for this characteristically used and abused type, presently tied with only 3 other examples at this elite gem level at NGC, only a single example certified a grade point higher. Delightful to behold, the piece at hand features a superb mottling of silver shades with an interspersion of blue on the obverse and apricot red-oranges on the reverse. We note that another MS65 example achieved $1997 in our January 2014 New York sale #3030 (lot 24517).
