Description

British India. Victoria Proof Pattern Rupee 1861 PR66 NGC, British Royal Mint, KM-Pn42, S&W-4.31, Prid-49. Type A/I. Plain edge. Coin alignment. Issued as part of a Proof set that never saw circulation. Extremely scarce. Only a mere two examples have been certified by NGC, with this example positioned as the distant front runner in the census. The smoky patina gives way to brilliant iridescence in the fields without any consequential signs of handling, which is undoubtedly the result of extended time in a cherished collection. A highly unlikely opportunity for the specialist.

Ex. Puddester Collection (Noonans, October 2024, Lot 1068); provenance traced to Bt R. Weir (Ontario, Canada)

Metal: Silver
Diameter: 30.78mm
