Description

1865 Fancy 5 Cent, MS66+ Red
Top-Grade CAC Registry Coin

1865 1C Fancy 5 MS66+ Red PCGS. CAC. Eagle Eye Photo Seal, card included. A slight majority of the Indian cents struck in 1865 used Fancy 5 dies, making this subtype slightly more plentiful than the Plain 5 variant. Still, examples are conditionally rare at the Premium Gem Red grade level, and this Plus designated piece is tied for finest known. It shows a bold strike and vibrant, satiny golden mint luster with hints of rose in the margins. Only a few microscopic marks are discernible with a loupe, and there are no bothersome abrasions. The advanced Registry collector will not surpass this piece, nor easily equal it. Population: 31 in 66 (5 in 66+) Red, 0 finer. CAC: 10 in 66, 0 finer (1/25).(Registry values: N2998)
