Description
1866 FS-301 Indian Cent, MS65 Red
Snow-2, Repunched Date
1866 1C Repunched Date, Snow-2, FS-301, MS65 Red PCGS. CAC.
Eagle Eye Photo Seal. The initial date punch was entered with an
upward slant from left to right, and then corrected. Obvious
remnants of the original entry are visible below the serif of the 1
and above the second 6. Not only is this a fascinating and elusive
variety, but it also proves that the Mint's engraving department
employed four-digit logotypes. This brilliant Gem features bold
design definition with full detail at the tips of each feather. The
highly lustrous orange mint surfaces are frosty and mark-free. This
example is one of the finest survivors from the Snow-2 dies.

in 65, 3 finer (1/25).Selections From The Burge Collection.
