Description

1876 Cent, MS66+ Red
Exceptional Registry-Grade Example

1876 1C MS66+ Red PCGS. CAC. The 1876 Indian cent is among the more challenging dates from the 1870s. Only a little more than 7.9 million pieces were struck, which was a dip in production from previous years, although it was augmented by the rerelease of several million uncurrent cents redeemed several years prior by the Mint. The typical 1876 cent encountered will be circulated, reflecting its widespread usage in commerce, and most Uncirculated pieces reside in the Brown or Red and Brown grades. This high-end Red example is conditionally rare, and it is among the top six Red coins with CAC endorsement. Sharpness throughout the portrait and wreath complements natural copper-orange luster and satiny fields, without spots or distracting abrasions. Population: 14 in 66 (3 in 66+) Red, 1 finer. CAC: 5 in 66, 1 finer (1/25).(Registry values: N4719)
