Description

1876 Indian Cent, Elusive MS66 Red
Ex: Ally Collection

1876 1C MS66 Red PCGS. Ex: Ally Collection. Although the 1876 cent is not usually thought of as a conditional rarity, it is usually overlooked in favor of the illustrious 1877. It is interesting that the PCGS certified population for this issue has not changed one iota in the 11 years since we last offered this piece, a situation that we seldom indeed see in this era of upgrades, crackouts, and crossovers. Business-strike Indian cents this nice are seldom encountered. The surfaces retain of their bright luster, just as when the coin was struck. Contact marks are absent. A tad of weakness appears on the high points on the ribbon, but this coin otherwise displays needle-sharp detail. Population: 13 in 66 Red, 1 finer (3/15).
