Description

1885 1C MS66 Red and Brown PCGS. CAC. The 1885 is a relatively low-mintage date that was not saved to any extent by the collecting public. Proofs were preferred to circulation-strike coins by those who cared to put aside an example. Remarkably, this piece survived in Premium Gem condition, with purple overtones across the fire-red surfaces. The strike is sharp and the surfaces are without any notable marks or distractions. Tied for finest at PCGS, the eye appeal is simply extraordinary. Population: 5 in 66 Red and Brown, 0 finer (2/15).(Registry values: N1793)
