Description

1885 Indian Cent, MS66+ Red
Lovely Condition Census Example

1885 1C MS66+ Red PCGS. CAC. This is a simply stunning example of the 1885 cent, both in terms of its razor-sharp strike and the unabraded, spot-free surfaces it beholds. The early die state is apparent in the fine die striations that remain in the obverse fields, while uniform rose-gold color characterizes each side.

We have seen Premium Gem Red examples of this issue on 14 prior occasions, including duplicate appearances of a few examples, and the current coin is certainly among the most attractive pieces we have seen so graded. A single MS67 Red PCGS coin is reported finer, but it has never been offered at public auction to our knowledge. Population: 26 in 66 (6 in 66+) Red, 1 finer. CAC: 6 in 66, 1 finer (1/25).(Registry values: N2998)
