Description

1888/7 Snow-1 Indian Cent, Fine 12
'Top Variety of the Indian Cent Series'

1888/7 1C Snow-1, FS-301, Fine 12 PCGS. Eagle Eye Photo Seal. Chocolate-brown and biscuit mix on the obverse, with the reverse adding some blue-steel to the mix. Snow starts this variety's entry in his book with the definitive, "[t]his is the top variety of the Indian Cent series." His census contains only 35 examples, the finest of which have sold into the six figures. Only one example grades Fine, from the Stanislaw Herstal Collection (AAA, 2/1974), lot 926. However, the plate, while low-quality, does not appear to match this coin.
