Description

1896 Cent, MS67 Red
Frosty CAC Registry Coin
Tied for Finest at PCGS

1896 1C MS67 Red PCGS. CAC. The availability of the 1896 Indian cent overall affords collectors ample opportunity to be selective with their acquisitions. However, for advanced Registry collectors, only Superb Gem Red examples will do, and these are rare. PCGS reports merely a dozen coins in this top grade, with seven more at NGC (1/25). The current piece displays sharp definition amplified by frosty, pristine mint luster and vivid copper-orange hues. A couple pinpoint specks at the first A in AMERICA and another between the NE in ONE serve as pedigree markers. Struck from clashed dies, with portions of the reverse design evident in the left obverse field. Population: 12 in 67 Red, 0 finer. CAC: 2 in 67, 0 finer (1/25).(Registry values: N4719)
