Description

1906 Indian Cent, MS67 Red
Tied With Two Others as Finest Known

1906 1C MS67 Red PCGS. A coin with exceptional visual appeal, this Superb Gem displays lustrous fiery orange surfaces. A splash of orange-red appears on one of the feather tips, while a small spot of frosty green toning is present on a portion of the ribbon on the reverse. The strike is sharp and the surfaces are virtually free of even the most minuscule marks. A few tiny carbon spots are present.

The 1906 Indian Head cent circulation-strike mintage numbered more than 96 million pieces and fully Red examples are rather plentiful, with many in grades of MS64 and MS65. However, Superb Gem examples are scarce. This PCGS-graded example is tied with two other coins, one at PCGS and another at NGC, as the finest-known MS67 Red specimens (12/13).(Registry values: N2998)
