Description

1909 Indian Cent, Splendid MS67 Red
Tied for Finest

1909 1C MS67 Red PCGS. The year 1909 was a dual-design one popular with type collectors, as it saw the last-year-of-type 1909 Indian cent give way to the new first-year-of-type Lincoln cent design. The 1909 Philadelphia Indian cents in high grades are an order of magnitude rarer, however, as few people saved the old versions in preference to the new. This Superb Gem Red example boasts splendid red-orange color on surfaces that are well-struck (note all four diamonds on the ribbon, and some detail on the feather tips). No contact marks or mentionable carbon mar the great eye appeal. Population: 6 in 67 Red, 0 finer (7/15).(Registry values: N2998)
