Description
1909-S Indian Cent, MS64 Red and Brown
Final-Year Issue, CAC
1909-S 1C MS64 Red and Brown PCGS. CAC. Snow-2. The San
Francisco branch mint produced its only two Indian Head cent issues
in 1908 and 1909. The 1909-S closed the series with the lowest
Indian head mintage at just 309,000 commercial strikes. Red and
Brown Choice examples are somewhat available at PCGS, but Gems
become challenging and finer pieces are conditionally rare. Radiant
luster on woodgrain surfaces of honey-gold and light-cocoa produce
outstanding eye appeal throughout this near-Gem example. Light,
grade-consistent marks are obscured by the splendid toning.Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 2298, PCGS# 2239, Greysheet# 1465)
