Lustrous Gem 1859 Indian Cent
1859 1C MS65 NGC. First year of the Indian cent obverse, but differing from the later years with a laurel wreath on the reverse rather than oak, and the coin's composition copper-nickel, rather than bronze as adopted in 1864. This is a lustrous piece that is light in color, especially on the obverse. Sharply struck on the obverse, there is just the slightest bit of softness at the top of the reverse.From the Mark Van Deusen Collection.
