    Description

    Lustrous Gem 1859 Indian Cent

    1859 1C MS65 NGC. First year of the Indian cent obverse, but differing from the later years with a laurel wreath on the reverse rather than oak, and the coin's composition copper-nickel, rather than bronze as adopted in 1864. This is a lustrous piece that is light in color, especially on the obverse. Sharply struck on the obverse, there is just the slightest bit of softness at the top of the reverse.
