Description

1871 1C MS65 Brown PCGS. CAC. Bold N. Substantial mint red supports bluish-brown overtones of this Gem 1871 cent. Extremely challenging in high grades regardless of color, the 1871 barely circulated before heading back to the Mint for melting and recoinage. The sharply struck motifs and well-preserved surfaces combine for a true series rarity -- only a handful of pieces are finer. CAC endorsement adds considerably to this coin's status. Population: 17 in 65 Brown, 2 finer. CAC: 8 in 65, 2 finer (3/19).(Registry values: N1793)
