Description

1871 1C MS65 Red and Brown PCGS Secure. Bold N. The usual variety for circulation strikes, of which almost 4 million coins were produced. This Red and Brown Gem offers glowing luster from orange-gold borders and golden-brown centers. The feather tips are strong, though the diamonds on the ribbon show moderate softness. Interesting cracks appear through the left portion of the wreath, and a carbon spot on the lower serif of S(TATES) acts as a pedigree marker. PCGS reports two finer Red and Brown coins (9/18).(Registry values: N2998)
