Some Original Red Remains
1872 1C MS66 Brown PCGS Secure. CAC. Bold N in ONE. This
luminous Premium Gem is tied with two others as the finest Brown
1872 Indian cent at PCGS. That service lists 10 Red and Brown coins
in this grade and one Red coin, but no numerically finer pieces
(3/18). Olive and burgundy-brown hues earn this coin the Brown
designation, although the obverse peripheries and most of the
reverse show original copper-red undertones. This sharp
CAC-approved coin is free of carbon and is nearly worthy of the Red
