Description

1877 Indian Cent, PR65+ Red
Subtle Cameo Contrast

1877 1C PR65+ Red PCGS Secure. A needle-sharp strike accompanies original, frosty luster on the devices on this high-end Gem Red proof, while the fields glimmer with reflectivity. Modest cameo contrast is apparent on each side, particularly the obverse. Each side has peach-gold and rose-pink coloration, with eye appeal that surpasses the grade.

Proof 1877 Indian cents are generally plentiful, especially in comparison to the key-date circulation strike of this year in high grade. Nonetheless, full Red examples are seldom encountered in Gem or better grades. This piece is highly appealing in every respect. Population: 25 in 65 (1 in 65+) Red, 13 finer; 3 in 65 Red Cameo, 3 finer (10/18).(Registry values: N4719)
