1907 No Periods Indian Eagle
An Eye-Appealing Premium Gem

1907 $10 No Periods MS66 NGC. CAC. This is the first Indian Head eagle that is broadly collectible, after the rare 1907 Wire Rim (net mintage of 472 coins) and the ultrarare 1907 Rolled Rim, Periods issue (net mintage 50 coins). The latter coin is also variously called Rolled Edge or Rounded Rim, Periods. The 1907 No Periods was a redesign by Henry Hering, Augustus Saint-Gaudens' assistant, possibly with added help from Charles Barber, Mint engraver. The 1907 No Periods is scarce at the Gem level and finer, although a few Superb Gems are known. The present Premium Gem offers super eye appeal, with frosty, mattelike orange-gold surfaces and thick mint luster. The only marks worthy of mention are a couple of tiny, well-hidden scrapes on the lower eagle's body. NGC has certified 31 examples finer (8/10).(Registry values: N4719)
