Description
1907 Indian Head Eagle, No Periods, MS66
Popular First-Year Type Coin
1907 $10 No Periods MS66 NGC. David Akers reports the
commonly quoted mintage of 239,406 eagles in 1907 actually included
542 Wire Rim examples, making the net production total for the No
Periods design 238,864 pieces. The No Periods design was the first
Indian Head type released into circulation and the public saved
many examples from the original release. The date is easily located
in grades up to the Gem level, making the issue a popular
first-year type coin. Premium Gem specimens are scarce. The present coin features bright orange-gold surfaces, with radiant mint luster. The surfaces are slightly matte-like in texture. The only noticeable flaw is a small mark below the second U in UNUM. Striking details are sharp throughout.(Registry values: N4719)
