    Premium Gem 1907 Indian Eagle
    Popular First-Year, No Periods Design

1907 $10 No Periods MS66 PCGS. CAC. Like the more famous High Relief double eagles of 1907, Saint-Gaudens' initial design for the ten dollar gold piece had to be modified to make large-scale production practical. The result was the beautiful No Periods design, which was immediately popular with the public, being the first version of the design released into general circulation. While many examples were saved at the time of issue, few survivors have been preserved in Premium Gem condition. This delightful specimen is well-detailed, with just a touch of the usual softness on Liberty's hair, and the attractive greenish-gold surfaces are remarkably free of distractions. Eye appeal is outstanding. Population: 81 in 66, 7 finer (1/12).(Registry values: N4719) (NGC ID# 28GF, PCGS# 8852)

The Coinage of Augustus Saint-Gaudens as Illustrated by the Morse and Duckor Collections
Revised Edition by James L. Halperin, Mark R. Borckardt, Mark Van Winkle, Jon Amato, and Gregory J. Rohan, with special contributor David W. Akers

The Coinage of Augustus Saint-Gaudens is an issue-by-issue examination of these two artistically inspired series of gold coins. Each date and mintmark is reviewed with up-to-date information, much of which has never been previously published. The book is based on two extraordinary collections: The Phillip H. Morse collection and the Dr. and Mrs. Steven L. Duckor collection.
