Description

1908 Indian Eagle, MS66
First Year With Motto

1908 $10 Motto MS66 PCGS. The design of the Indian eagle was modified in 1908 to include the motto IN GOD WE TRUST, creating a popular new subtype for type collectors. The design remained essentially unchanged until gold coinage ended in 1933. The 1908 Motto type claims a mintage of 341,370 pieces and the issue is not difficult to locate at the Gem level. Examples in MS66 condition can be found with patience, but the issue is very rare in higher grades.

The present coin is a delightful Premium Gem with sharply detailed design elements and vibrant mint luster on both sides. The light orange-gold surfaces show no mentionable signs of contact and eye appeal is terrific. Population: 46 in 66 (2 in 66+), 10 finer (9/24).
