Description

Superlative 1908 No Motto Eagle, MS66

1908 $10 No Motto MS66 NGC. The mintage of the 1908 No Motto is less than one-tenth that of the 1908 With Motto eagles, and it is one of only five No Motto issues in the series. It is an underrated issue, particularly in the rarefied atmosphere above the Gem level. This Premium Gem example is one of only 14 pieces so graded at NGC, with six finer (9/09). The obverse high points have a lilac accent, while the remainder of the coin is a superlative, mellow orange-gold. Singular abrasions are virtually absent, although some strike weakness, typical for the issue, appears on the reverse where the claw joins the branch.(Registry values: N7079)
