Description

1908-S Indian Ten, MS63
Scarce Low-Mintage Issue

1908-S $10 MS63 NGC. The 1908-S Indian eagle has a mintage of just 59,850 pieces, and since San Francisco gold coins circulated to some extent at the time of issue, the majority of survivors are in XF and AU grades. Pleasing Select Uncirculated examples are both elusive and desirable. The present coin is sharp with fine definition on the hair and headdress feathers. Attractive orange-gold surfaces display green highlights with only a few minor contact marks. Mint luster is strong but not as radiant as sometimes seen on this date. Census: 19 in 63 (1 in 63+), 42 finer (5/23).
Ex: Long Beach Signature (Heritage, 9/2007), lot 3696; Summer FUN Signature (Heritage, 7/2011), lot 4925.(Registry values: N2998)
