1908-S $10 MS63 PCGS. The San Francisco Mint struck a memorably small production of 59,850 Indian eagles in 1908, all with the motto IN GOD WE TRUST on the reverse. Large denomination gold coins circulated freely in the hard-money economy of the Western United States until World War I, and most survivors seen today are in the XF-AU grade range. Examples in Mint State grades are definitely elusive. This impressive Select example exhibits sharply detailed design elements throughout, and the lightly marked greenish-gold surfaces radiate vibrant mint luster from both sides. Overall eye appeal is outstanding. Housed in a green label holder. Population: 48 in 63 (1 in 63+), 89 finer (9/23).(Registry values: N2998)
