Description

1909-S Indian Eagle, MS64+
Seldom Encountered in Finer Grades

1909-S $10 MS64+ PCGS. CAC. The 1909-S Indian eagle claims a moderate mintage of 292,500 pieces, but examples in Mint State condition were quite elusive before the issue surfaced in a hoard in the late 1970s. Unfortunately, the hoard coins were mostly lower grade Uncirculated examples, so the 1909-S remains very scarce at the MS64 grade level.

This Plus-graded Choice specimen offers well-detailed design elements and well-preserved surfaces with no large or distracting flaws. The pleasing orange-gold surfaces display vibrant mint luster with outstanding eye appeal. Population: 60 in 64 (5 in 64+), 31 finer. CAC: 12 in 64, 8 finer (6/16).
