Lovely Premium Gem 1910 Indian Eagle

1910 $10 MS66 NGC. The 1910 is not a highly respected date in terms of rarity, and the Garrett/Guth Gold Encyclopedia states: "The 1910 issue is one of the more available dates in all grades, including gem Mint State and higher." We find this assessment to be perhaps a bit of an overstatement, considering that just 55 examples are graded at MS66 by the two major services. The current example is definitely worthy of its Premium Gem designation, showing intensely lustrous yellow-gold surfaces that reveal slight accents of rose near the peripheries and across the centers. Well struck and impressively preserved, with just a handful of trivial, undistracting marks. Census: 34 in 66, 17 finer (4/09).(Registry values: N4719)
