Description

1910 Indian Eagle, MS66
Intensely Lustrous

1910 $10 MS66 NGC. The 1910 is not a highly respected date in terms of rarity, and the Garrett/Guth Gold Encyclopedia states: "The 1910 issue is one of the more available dates in all grades, including gem Mint State and higher." We find this assessment to be perhaps a bit of an overstatement, considering that just 47 examples are graded at MS66 or MS66+ by the two major services combined (5/23), with few pieces finer. The current example is definitely worthy of its Premium Gem designation, showing intensely lustrous yellow-gold surfaces that reveal slight accents of rose near the peripheries and across the centers. Well struck and impressively preserved, with just a handful of trivial marks. Census: 21 in 66 (1 in 66+), 15 finer (5/23).
