Outstanding MS66 1910-D Eagle

1910-D $10 MS66 NGC. Before the mammoth mintage of eagles in 1932, the highest production for the Saint-Gauden ten dollar design came in 1910 at Denver, where more than 2.3 million of the coins were struck. Many were melted, however, making the date available in most grades but a challenge at the highest levels. This MS66 survivor is memorable, a trifle soft on the obverse design definition but immensely lustrous with yellow-gold color overall and a measure of rim toning, rings around both obverse and reverse with a small copper spot just below 9 o'clock on the latter side. NGC has certified only eight numerically finer pieces (1/10).(Registry values: N4719)
