    Description

    1911 Eagle, MS66
    Well-Made Type Coin

1911 $10 MS66 PCGS. Many collectors love (and rightly so) the Saint-Gaudens eagle series. If one so desired, a "decade type set" for each decade the series was produced could be assembled at the Premium Gem level between four issues, the 1907 No Motto (No Periods), the 1911, the 1926, and the ubiquitous 1932 issue. The 1911 is among the best-produced issues in the series, usually showing great luster and a bold strike.

This Premium Gem is no exception, an extremely eye-appealing example displaying bold luster and a strong strike over surfaces that are virtually unmarked. A great-looking type coin. Population: 25 in 66, 9 finer (5/13).(Registry values: N4719) (NGC ID# 28GT, PCGS# 8868)

The Coinage of Augustus Saint-Gaudens as Illustrated by the Morse and Duckor Collections
Revised Edition by James L. Halperin, Mark R. Borckardt, Mark Van Winkle, Jon Amato, and Gregory J. Rohan, with special contributor David W. Akers

The Coinage of Augustus Saint-Gaudens is an issue-by-issue examination of these two artistically inspired series of gold coins. Each date and mintmark is reviewed with up-to-date information, much of which has never been previously published. The book is based on two extraordinary collections: The Phillip H. Morse collection and the Dr. and Mrs. Steven L. Duckor collection.
