Description

Incredible MS67 1911 Eagle

1911 $10 MS67 NGC. The 1911 is an issue of high quality that offers the type collector a slightly unconventional but satisfactory option for the Saint-Gaudens eagle. Garrett and Guth write in their Encyclopedia of U.S. Gold Coins: "Aside from the 1926 and 1932 issues, this is one of the most obtainable issues." In a relative sense, this extends even to the MS67 level, though at that point even the 1911 is a definite condition rarity. The present piece has smooth and vibrant lemon-gold surfaces. The strike is particularly pleasing, adding another dimension to the eye appeal. Census: 7 in 67, 3 finer (4/09).(Registry values: N7079)
