1911-S Indian Ten Dollar, MS65
Outstanding Conditional Rarity

1911-S $10 MS65 NGC. Augustus Saint-Gaudens elevated United States Mint coinage artistry to a new high standard of excellence with the iconic design of the Indian ten dollar gold, featuring the head of Liberty adorned with an Indian war bonnet and a majestic new eagle design on the reverse. The 1911-S Indian Eagle had a meager mintage of only 51,000 coins from the San Francisco branch mint, and high grade coins remain elusive. In fact, not only is the 1911-S among the rarest of the Indian eagle series, but the issue represents one of the major rarities of all twentieth-century United States gold coinage.

This outstanding specimen has rich tangerine toning with greenish-gold highlights for lovely eye-appeal. Frosty luster radiates from pristine surfaces and is slightly granular in texture, which is typical of the 1911-S eagle. The strike is full with all design elements of the obverse and reverse sides well-defined. This is a great opportunity to acquire a nice example of a gold rarity. NGC Census: ten in 65, two finer (6/25).(Registry values: N4719)
