Description
1912-S Indian Eagle, MS64+
Rarely Seen Finer
1912-S $10 MS64+ NGC. CAC. The 1912-S Indian eagle claims an
adequate mintage of 300,000 pieces, but the issue was not
well-produced and most examples seen are softly struck, with
lackluster surfaces. As a result, the 1912-S is one of the most
elusive issues of the series in high grade. This high-end Choice
example is a welcome exception to the rule, with a
better-than-average strike and vibrant frosty mint luster on both
sides. The well-preserved orange-gold surfaces show just a few
minor contact marks, none worthy of individual mention. This coin
possesses stronger eye appeal than all but a few examples of this
issue. Census: 37 in 64 (4 in 64+), 10 finer (5/14).(Registry values: N4719)Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 28GX, PCGS# 8872, Greysheet# 9768)
