    1913-S Indian Eagle, MS62
    Underrated Low-Mintage Issue

1913-S $10 MS62 PCGS. Only 66,000 Indian eagles were struck at the San Francisco Mint in 1913, an extremely low mintage for a 20th century coin. As a result, the 1913-S is the second-rarest Indian eagle in high grade, following only the 1911-D. This attractive MS62 example exhibits well-detailed design elements, with just a touch of softness on the hair and headdress feathers. The surfaces display dark orange-gold patina, with a few traces of lilac. Slightly granular frosty mint luster brightens both sides. The surfaces show remarkably few surface marks for the grade. Population: 46 in 62 (1 in 62+), 41 finer (3/13).(Registry values: N4719) (NGC ID# 28GZ, PCGS# 8874)

The Coinage of Augustus Saint-Gaudens as Illustrated by the Morse and Duckor Collections
Revised Edition by James L. Halperin, Mark R. Borckardt, Mark Van Winkle, Jon Amato, and Gregory J. Rohan, with special contributor David W. Akers

The Coinage of Augustus Saint-Gaudens is an issue-by-issue examination of these two artistically inspired series of gold coins. Each date and mintmark is reviewed with up-to-date information, much of which has never been previously published. The book is based on two extraordinary collections: The Phillip H. Morse collection and the Dr. and Mrs. Steven L. Duckor collection.
