The 1913-S eagle is just about in a dead heat with the 1911-D as the most conditionally elusive of the series, with the race being decided by exactly what grade level is contested. Currently, PCGS has certified 26 examples of the 1911-D in MS63, with 16 finer, while it has graded 22 1913-S eagles, with 13 finer (5/10).
This Select Mint State 1913-S displays sharp striking details, with just a touch of softness on the eagle's breast. The surfaces are a pleasing light orange-gold, with strong, satiny mint luster. A short, vertical scratch on Liberty's neck is the only singular abrasion. Specimens certified finer than this example seldom appear in the numismatic marketplace, so astute prospective buyers must pounce on this opportunity.(Registry values: N4719)
