Description

1913-S Indian Ten Dollar, MS63
Linchpin Key to a High-Grade Set

1913-S $10 MS63 PCGS. Exceeded only by the 1911-D in scarcity at the Select Uncirculated or finer grades, the 1913-S lives up to its reputation as a high-grade series key. Just 66,000 pieces were struck at the San Francisco Mint. Blazing luster radiates from this example's orange-gold surfaces, which are richly frosted and only lightly marked for the grade. The portrait and headdress are fully brought up, as is the eagle's feather definition.

The 1913-S is almost always abraded. While this example shows scattered tiny contacts, there are no individually distracting marks and the eye appeal is exceptional. We seldom see a 1913-S with the visual allure of the present Select coin. Population: 27 in 63, 17 finer (6/16).
