    Description

1914 $10 MS63 NGC. Less available than its mintage implies, the 1914 eagle joined the ranks of many gold coins that found safety in European holdings. Others were tucked away domestically in collections, and still others were hoarded during the war, the Great Depression, or succumbed to the Gold Recall. This Select Uncirculated example never saw circulation in commerce, and its finely granular, orange-gold surfaces are lightly abraded. A few small, reddish alloy spots dot each side. The strike is sharp, accented by bold mint luster.(Registry values: N1793)
