Description

Gem 1914-D Indian Head Eagle
Popular Mintmarked Type Coin

1914-D $10 MS65 NGC. The 1914-D Indian Head eagle is one of the more available mintmarked issues of the series and enjoys great popularity with type collectors. From a large mintage of 343,500 pieces, the 1914-D is usually seen in lower Uncirculated grades, becoming quite scarce at the Gem level. The present coin displays attractive greenish-gold surfaces, with subtle flashes of red, and exceptional, frosty luster. The design elements are sharp overall, with just a touch of softness showing on the lower headdress feathers. The fields have a slightly granular texture, as often seen on this issue, and no marks worthy of individual mention are detected. Census: 40 in 65, 18 finer (7/10).(Registry values: N4719)
