Better Date 1915-S Eagle, MS631915-S $10 MS63 NGC. CAC. The 1915-S eagle boasts a low mintage of only 59,000 coins. This issue was not shipped overseas in large numbers, probably because of economic issues arising out of World War I. As a result, this date suffered large scale melting during the 1930s, and few pieces were recovered later from European holdings. Today, this date is a key to the Indian Head series, and is avidly pursued by 20th century gold specialists.
The present coin is a most attractive example of this key date. The sharp strike has imparted crisp detail to all the design elements, and rich, satiny luster enhances the surfaces. Eye appeal is outstanding. Census: 17 in 63, 18 finer (11/08).(Registry values: N4719) (NGC ID# 28H6, PCGS# 8879)
