Description
Magnificent 1915-S Indian Eagle, MS63
Second-Rarest Issue in the Series
1915-S $10 MS63 PCGS. CAC. The 1915-S Indian eagle has the
lowest mintage of the entire series with one exception, the coveted
1911-D, with mintages of 59,000 coin and 30,100 pieces,
respectively. Mike Fuljenz's recent addition to the series
literature, Indian Gold Coins of the 20th Century, deems the
issue to be "one of the few coins in the series that is not only
very difficult to find in high grades, but is also a challenge to
find in just about any grade above AU55."The present Select Mint State specimen offers magnificent eye appeal for the grade and plenty of character, as well. Pronounced reddish-gold surfaces are wonderfully lustrous, with glimpses of paler color near the rims and dots of coppery toning at Liberty's throat and near the left obverse rim. A handful of short, straight abrasions appear on the boldly impressed portrait. Housed in a green label holder. Population: 29 in 63, 24 finer (8/10).(Registry values: N4719)
Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 28H6, PCGS# 8879, GSID# 9772)
Metal: 90% Gold, 10% Copper
Weight: 16.72 grams
AGW: 0.48375oz
Mintage: 59,000
