    Low-Mintage 1915-S Ten Dollar, MS64

1915-S $10 MS64 PCGS. The Saint-Gaudens ten dollar series is studded with low-mintage issues, usually produced at one of the branch mints. Among them is the 1915-S, mintage 59,000 pieces and widely recognized as a scarce issue at the Select level. MS64 coins like this one are condition rarities, as are their betters, which number only a handful. The luster is mainly wheat-gold with a subtle orange overtone, and faintly frosted as seen by a small patch of brilliance opened up by a scrape above the E in E PLURIBUS UNUM. Minor striking incompleteness has little influence on the overall eye appeal.(Registry values: N7079) (NGC ID# 28H6, PCGS# 8879)

The Coinage of Augustus Saint-Gaudens as Illustrated by the Morse and Duckor Collections
Revised Edition by James L. Halperin, Mark R. Borckardt, Mark Van Winkle, Jon Amato, and Gregory J. Rohan, with special contributor David W. Akers

The Coinage of Augustus Saint-Gaudens is an issue-by-issue examination of these two artistically inspired series of gold coins. Each date and mintmark is reviewed with up-to-date information, much of which has never been previously published. The book is based on two extraordinary collections: The Phillip H. Morse collection and the Dr. and Mrs. Steven L. Duckor collection.
