    Description

    1920-S Ten Dollar, AU53
    Early Melt Rarity

1920-S $10 AU53 PCGS. CAC. The last five issues of the Saint-Gaudens eagle series form an unusual pattern: melt rarity (1920-S), type coin (1926), melt rarity (1930-S), type coin (1932), and melt rarity (1933). This is a lightly worn example of the first issue, which is scarce today regardless of condition. Peach-kissed yellow-gold surfaces retain considerable luster despite wear across the softly struck high points. Liberty's portrait shows several cuts toward the left and a short dig just off the chin, while the reverse has a few similar flaws in more out-of-the-way areas. Population: 3 in 53, 44 finer (6/13).
