1926 Ten Dollar Indian, MS66
Superior Quality Overall
1926 $10 MS66 NGC. CAC. As a date, the 1926 eagle is the
second most common of all the Indian Head ten dollar gold coins.
Gems are not difficult to locate. However, the situation changes
dramatically at the MS66 level. The present coin is a particularly
pleasing example of this Premium Gem rarity. The fields are
virtually free of abrasions, with only a short reeding mark above D
in the denomination to serve as a pedigree marker. The obverse
displays thick, frosted mint luster with intense red-gold color and
generous portions of lilac interspersed over each each side. The
strike is strong and crisp overall with all of the details of
Saint-Gaudens beautiful design shown to best advantage. This
exquisite Premium Gem eagle represents the highest goal a collector
can aspire to for this date. Census: 51 in 66 (1 in 66+, 2 in 66
★ ), 0 finer. CAC: 6 in 66, 0 finer (9/17).(Registry values: N4719)Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 28H9, PCGS# 8882)
