The 1926, with its mintage of slightly over a million pieces, is one of the most famous and popular type issues among Saint-Gaudens eagles, particularly through Choice grades; interestingly enough, while a handful of Superb Gem coins are known for other issues in the series, the finest grade for a 1926 eagle is MS66, according to both NGC and PCGS (8/08).
