1908-D No Motto Indian Eagle, MS65+
    Rare So Well-Preserved

1908-D $10 No Motto MS65+ NGC. Although the 1908-D No Motto Indian eagle boasts a higher mintage than its Philadelphia counterpart (210,000 coins), it is significantly scarcer in Select and finer grades. In MS65, the 1908-D No Motto eagle is decidedly rare, as are a handful of finer pieces. Since our Permanent Auction Archives began in 1993, Heritage has handled a Gem or finer 1908-D No Motto on only 14 previous occasions, some of which represent reappearances of just a few coins. The last MS65+ coin that we handled was a PCGS CAC example in the Long Beach Signature (Heritage, 2/2013), lot 3982, which realized $55,812.50.

This NGC coin is well-struck and devoid of bothersome abrasions, showing bright yellow-gold luster. A cartwheel effect is produced in hand, and under a loupe only the faintest evidence of surface contact is evident on Liberty's cheek. Census: 11 in 65 (1 in 65+), 8 finer (2/19).(Registry values: N7079) (NGC ID# 28GH, PCGS# 8854)

    Weight: 16.72 grams

    Metal: 90% Gold, 10% Copper
