Description

1908 Indian Five Dollar, MS65
Attractive First-Year Issue

1908 $5 MS65 PCGS. An interesting paradox of the 1908 half eagle is that while the innovative Bela Lyon Pratt design had a mixed reception at best, the date was still saved in quantity as the first of its kind, making it a popular type choice today despite a mintage that is not so high as seen for several later Philadelphia issues. This Gem offers bold peach-gold luster, subtly frosted and lighting up remarkably smooth surfaces. The strike is solid in the centers, though the lowest pendant in the necklace is weak.(Registry values: N4719)
